Due to the significant increase in electricity costs, Wooldridge milking technologies have recently been working on an energy saving dairy project for a customer.
As a result of the improvements the customer reported their electricity bill for December 2021 was £1500 lower than December 2020.
The improvements included,
- Variable speed vacuum pumps – We kept the original pumps and added variable speed drives to save energy, reduce noise and maintenance.
- Variable speed milk pump – We kept the original pump and added a variable speed drive to save improve cooling through the plate cooler and save energy. The customer reported the milk in the tank was 3 degrees cooler at the end of milking.
- Heat recovery – Takes heat from the bulk tank compressors and puts it into water which then supplies the dairy and wash water heaters with 65 degree water.
