We have just installed this camera system for a customer.
The customer had several requirements
- To be able to check on dry/calving cows day or night
- To have security cameras around workshop and dairy
- To monitor all handling areas to ensure high cow welfare
- To be able to monitor off site with no wireless or internet currently available
We had the option of installing 4G cameras but due to the increased cost of the camera and cost of 4G sim contracts it was more cost effective to install long range WiFi over all the buildings connected to a central 4G router. This also gave faster camera response whilst on farm as you are not using the 4G network.
In the observation areas we installed several PTZ (pan tilt zoom) cameras, 5 mega pixel with 100m night vision and 20x optical zoom. This allows the farm to zoom into one animal with great clarity. For the general security we installed a number of 5 mega pixel wide angled static cameras with motion capture so it will start recording whenever it identifies movement. You can go back several months to keep a record of what is happening on farm.
